02How it works

Treat, teach, swap.

It mainly reaches the front paws. Keep your clippers for the back ones.

A treat in the drawer
Pull the drawer out by its red tab, drop in a small treat, slide it shut. Put the board on the floor.
Teach the scratch
Praise any scratch on the board, then open the drawer for the treat. Two or three minutes, then put it away.
Swap the surface
When the grit has worn smooth, put on a replacement surface.

03Who it's for, and who should skip it

A good fit if

Your dog pulls their paw away from clippers.
They'll work for a treat.
You have a few minutes a day to teach something new.

Not the right tool if

You need the back nails done: the board mainly reaches the front paws.
Your dog isn't interested in treats.
The nails are already very long: start with a groomer.

What goes in the drawer?

A small, dry treat your dog already likes. Treats are not included.

How do I teach it?

Put a treat in the drawer and the board on the floor. Praise any scratch on the board, then open the drawer for the treat. Two or three minutes, then put it away. If yours doesn't take to it, email us within 30 days of delivery: full refund, and you keep the board.

Front paws only?

Mostly front. Back nails still need clippers.

Should I watch while it's out?
