There's no switch. The supplier describes a layer inside that reflects your pet's own body heat back, so it is only as warm as the pet on it.

Where your pet already sleeps: a crate, a corner of the sofa, a patch of floor.
Let them find it
Leave it there. Some pets move straight in, some take their time, some never do.
Shake it out
Shake or vacuum the fur off now and then, and wash it when it needs it.
